1992 after apprenticeship for dental technology in Stuttgart he worked as a dental technician at School for Dental Medicine, Tubingen, Germany. Five years at a renowned laboratory in Stuttgart were followed by a collaboration with Kenneth A. Malament DDS, MScD, in Boston, USA and support as visiting lecturer the Postdoctoral Program for Prosthodontics at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and Harvard School for Dental Medicine in Boston, USA.

In 1999 Joachim Maier left Master School in Munich, Germany, awarded. In the same year, he was co-founder and part owner of Bodensee Dentaltechnik AG, a metal-free dental laboratory limited to All Ceramic and CAD/CAM technology in Meersburg, Germany.

2008 he won the award "Best Lecture of 2008" at ADT Congress in Stuttgart, Germany.

Today he is running the Bodensee Oral Design Center, located in Uberlingen at Lake Constance in South of Germany. The laboratory is specialized on fixed prosthesis with All-Ceramic Systems.

He gives presentations and courses on All Ceramic, minimal invasive restorations, implant-borne prosthesis, CAD/CAM technology and reports on his experience with over 8000 Units of Zirconia in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
